Personal Experience

Norberto is a partner of Veliz Katz Law located in Maitland. During the first part of his career, he practiced law in the Central Florida areas specializing in Family, Probate and Guardianship Law. Later he was appointed a Judicial Hearing Officer and Special Magistrate in Orange and Osceola Counties, before returning to the practice of law at Veliz Katz Law. Norberto focuses his practice on Probate and Guardianship litigation.


Norberto has held numerous leadership roles in the legal field, including Chairman of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, President of the George C. Young Inn of Court, President of the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Chairman of the Family Law Committee of the Orange County Bar Association and as a Founding Member and first President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida. He has also lectured at seminars on Family Law and was the first Judicial Hearing Officer in Florida to be selected as a Track Leader for Family Law for the Advanced Judicial Studies program for Florida’s judiciary.


Norberto is also committed to serving the Central Florida community, including, among others, having served as President of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, Chair of the Mental Health Association of Central Florida and as a Board member of the Howard Phillips Center for Families and Children, the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center and the YMCA Hispanic Achievers Program.


For his hard work and dedication, Norberto has received numerous prestigious awards including The Florida Bar President’s Award, the Judge J.C. “Jake Stone” Legal Aid Society Service Award, and the Jefferson Award for Public Service.


Norberto is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Mississippi College School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree. Norberto also speaks Spanish and Portuguese fluently.
